MISHAWAKA, Indiana U.S.A. (March 21, 2018) – Better World Books (BWB) announces their eighth-annual Literacy Grants designed to address the literacy needs of communities across the world. Libraries and nonprofit literacy organizations alike can apply for funds to support their efforts to further literacy initiatives in their communities. As a Founding B Corporation, Better World Books has raised over $26M USD to date for libraries, literacy, and education causes worldwide.

Libraries and nonprofits may pitch one project each, with a maximum award of $15,000 USD (or equivalent currency) per organization. Organizations must clearly outline the project elements that require the requested funds. The Better World Books Literacy Council will review the projects. The Literacy Council will select library and nonprofit winners. The deadline for both library and nonprofit applicants is May 31, 2018 at 11:59 PM ET.

“Better World Books believes in the power of knowledge – our goal is to help those who supply it and share knowledge with those who crave it.  Better World Books Literacy Grants fund specific literacy projects designed and implemented by passionate professionals from innovators in the library and nonprofit community. We’re pleased to launch the global grants for 2018, and we look forward to fresh and inspiring applications from across the world,” states Dustin Holland, Vice President of Global Sales & Marketing and Executive Sponsor of Better World Books’ Literacy Council.

In 2017, Better World Books awarded grants to various library and literacy nonprofit organizations totaling over $83,000 USD.  There were 22 projects that received funding in 2017 and the Company received over 500 applications.  Martin Mullin, Chair of Better World Books’ Literacy Council commented, “We’re delighted to have awarded grants to these fantastic projects.  We are extremely impressed by all the applications and the vital literacy work being undertaken across our communities.  We commend the 2017 grant winners, to everyone who applied for a grant and to everyone who supports our mission.  Our customers make this possible and together we are making a difference one book at a time.”

Better World Books Literacy Grants are funded by the Company’s General Literacy Fund.  This fund is made possible by Better World Books clients that select the General Literacy Fund as their literacy beneficiary and the customers that ultimately buy these books offered by sale from Better World Books.
